Description
This small wooden cutting board features a hand-painted scene of three horsemen labeled “РУСЬ” (“Rus”), referencing the early Slavic state that would become Russia. The figures stand on a green patch of grass beneath a glossy-finished banner, while the back remains an unfinished wood. On the back of the wooden board, A stick-figure self-portrait of the donor, along with his name “Дима” (Dima), is drawn in Russian, a childhood addition. The board was painted by the donor’s father while living in Chișinău, Moldova, and brought to Greensboro, NC, when the family immigrated in 2002. Today, it hangs in their kitchen as a tribute to their heritage and home country.
